Here is my first review on my website; Why I Can No Longer Recommend GoDaddy: My Frustrating Experience!
I recently had a bad experience with GoDaddy.com, and I feel like I was scammed. It started when my client needed the domain name masterskill.com, but it was already taken. We traced the domain to GoDaddy and, after registering on their platform, saw they suggested an alternate domain name, master-skill.com. After discussing it with my client, we went ahead and purchased it with domain protection on August 21, 2024. I have the receipt (see screenshots below).

You can see the three screenshots above. The above receipt was sent when I paid for the domain name www.master-skill.com!
Fast forward to September 22, 2024, when I tried to use the domain with a new hosting provider. I needed to point master-skill.com to my host, but I couldn’t. I couldn’t even find where I owned the domain! My Domain Portfolio was empty, and when I checked under “My Products,” it displayed: “Your business website, Master Skill” with the subtitle www.master-skill.com (see screenshot).

At this point, I was furious. I attempted to contact GoDaddy’s support, but the live chat wasn’t working. The only available option was to call their support number. I called, but within 30 seconds, my call credit was gone! I recharged with more credit, but after a long delay, just as I was about to speak with a customer representative, my call credit drained again. It was clear to me that GoDaddy’s customer service is inefficient and costly.
Despite having proof of purchase, I still cannot use the domain, and I’ve had no success contacting GoDaddy to resolve the issue. It’s frustrating to think that a major company like GoDaddy lacks transparency and fails to provide the support customers need.
Is GoDaddy Reliable?
Based on my experience, it seems GoDaddy’s reliability is questionable. The key issues I faced—like not being able to access my purchased domain name, confusion with the Domain Portfolio, and difficulties reaching customer support—indicate that their services may not always work as expected.
A reliable service would ensure:
- Clear visibility and management of purchased domains.
- Accessible and helpful customer support via live chat.
- Transparent and easy-to-use tools for domain management.
Since I was unable to achieve these with GoDaddy, it suggests that they may not be the most reliable option, especially for users who need seamless domain management and responsive support. For these reasons, I can no longer recommend GoDaddy to anyone. Their domain management system is confusing, and their customer service is virtually unreachable, leaving me feeling scammed and drained.
If you’ve had a similar experience with GoDaddy, I’d love to hear your story. Feel free to share it in the comments below.
